CHRN's Objectives
COLLABORATION
Provide opportunities for collaboration among the diversity of groups and researchers involved in homelessness across Canada. The CHRN is dedicated to enhancing research collaboration by supporting the work of regional research networks throughout the country, as well as research clusters focused on topical issues (e.g., Street youth, Aboriginal homelessness and Women and homelessness).
KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
Make existing research on homelessness more accessible and reduce the geographical, sectoral, and socio-economic divisions that impede knowledge exchange. Through ongoing support of the Homeless Hub (www.homelesshub.com), the CHRN is dedicated to highlighting and increasing access to Canadian homelessness research. The CHRN will also provide support for regional and topical workshops, as well as national research conferences.
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
‘Make research matter’ by exploring how research can effectively engage the general public, policy makers and decision-makers in the homelessness sector. The CHRN will focus on education and engagement in public debates with the establishment of a Think Tank and speakers’ bureau, the development of curriculum materials for Canadian schools, and support for arts-based community engagement strategies, such as film, theatre and photography.
